About
Sport and exercise is in my blood, it’s what I have done for as long as I can remember.
I knew my love of sport and exercise was something I would have for life and I wanted to inspire and help others along the way. This is when I went on to study a Bachelor Degree in Sport and Exercise Science which I graduated with in 2021.
I love being in a gym environment and being surrounded by likeminded individuals. Outside of the gym I enjoy baking, cooking, and netball - I was a bakery manager and have played netball for 16 years.

I started out instructing freestyle step and pump classes before Les Mills classes. Throughout the years I've taught many of the Les Mills programs, and now teach BodyBalance, Les Mills Core and Grit and you'll also find me setting up circuits.
I have a huge passion for people and fitness which is why working alongside others, supporting and sharing my love of movement is so important to me.
I have always enjoyed a challenge and continue to do this with taking up Waka Ama inthe recent couple of years. I thrive on making a commitment and pushing myself to achieve.
My motto is we can always do more than we think we can.

About
Sport and exercise has been an interest of mine for most of my life. I’ve always been intrigued in what improves athletic performance. Initially, I started out with the basics (increasing lean muscle mass and strength). This is still the bulk of my own training program however, my passion now lies with sport specific training. I have experience working with a wide range of athletes including rugby, basketball, hockey, and football. If you’re an aspiring athlete who wants to take their game to the next level, come and see me!

I love to engage in hypertrophy training using science-based methods. My passion is one-on-one training, as individual-focused training is more beneficial to achieve goals. Every client has different body types, injuries, and mobility issues. So, an individualistic approach to gaining results is more effective. My goal is to develop community well-being through physical fitness training. I believe that "the active soul is the healthy soul".
Throughout my sports career, I played various sports, including bodybuilding. Sport has always been a big part of my life, I have been heavily involved in tennis since childhood and had achieved club victories as a team. I have a passion for helping people, especially in the community.

I thoroughly enjoy working with high performance athletes but love helping anyone no matter the goal!

About
I am currently pursuing a career as an Elite Level CrossFit Athlete which consists of up to 3 – 4 hours of training a day, lots of mobilising and recovering, a ridiculous amount of food and plenty of sleep! This burning desire to chase my own dreams flows over into my work and helping others chase their dreams too.

About
I played hockey throughout my schooling career, playing for Hawke’s Bay, Takitimu, and Victoria University of Wellington. This led me to develop a passion for health and fitness, going on to complete a Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science to work as a personal trainer alongside studying architecture.

I approach training with the philosophy, “to master the mind, body, and soul” which can be translated to all other areas of life. My goal is to instil this mentality into others so they can reach their physical, mental, and spiritual potential.

When I’m not working, studying, or putting the hours in at the gym, I’ll be attempting to surf the biggest wave I can find (I’m a kook).

About
Health and fitness changed my life when I was a teenager and many years later I decided to take a risk and leave my job as a builder to try and share the positive impact training had on my life with others. The most recent little goal I achieved was cracking a sub 20 minute 5km run which was much harder than you’d think!

Renee Baarspul

As the Network Fitness Team Leader, you'll find me at both Ocean Spa and the Napier Aquatic Centre.
I collaborate closely with our dedicated fitness team to ensure the delivery of quality service and experiences such as personal training, small group training and group fitness classes.

About
I have been an athlete for most of my life which has lead me to the career I am in today. I have been a high performance athlete for gymnastics in my younger days which set me up for all of my sports I have chosen to pursue.
Fitness and sports has helped create the passion for working in the fitness industry as I have been working at the Napier City Council running fitness programs, both aqua based and gym based, since 2010 and am excited about my new role.
I have represented NZ in 4 sports: artistic gymnastics, surf life saving, trampoline and tumbling and Olympic Weightlifting. I currently have a world record in the snatch lift for my age.
